On arrival in Vientiane Capital, you will be met and taken to your hotel in the middle of the city. After a short break, we visit the most important places in the capital. We stop to take pictures of the impressive Patuxay Monument, which is known as Vientiane's own Arc de Triumph, on the way to Laos' national treasure, the famous and holy That Luang Stupa. That Luang Stupa is the national treasure of Laos. We spend the evening by the Mekong River as we watch the sun go down and take in the city at night. Stay the night at Vientiane.

When we get there, we take a bus to the Plain of Jars, which is an amazing archaeological site with a lot of big stone jars all over the plateau. We will also have time this afternoon to see the old center of Muang Khoun Province and the Hmong and Tai Dam villages nearby. They have a lively past and an interesting way of life. Spend the night at Phonsavanh.

Day 03 : XIENG KHOUANG – DRIVE TO LUANG PRABANG ( 306km/6-7hrs drives )

Early in the morning, we go to Phonsavanh's Central Market to watch people from different hill tribes trade goods. Then, we leave this small town and head toward Luang Prabang. On the way, we stop to see the Buddha pictures in Thampra, which are more than 200 years old, as well as several Hmong and hilltribe minority villages. When you go to their towns, really nice and friendly people will welcome you.

After stopping to take pictures, we keep going uphill, taking in the beautiful views of the mountains, forest, and landscape. After a break for tea or coffee at Sala Phoukhoun, the T-junction where the borders of Vientiane, Xiengkhouang, and Luang Prabang meet. On the way to Luang Prabang, we will pass through hilly areas. This town is one of the best places to visit in Laos because it is peaceful and has a lot of charm. It also has beautiful natural scenery and interesting cultural sites. After checking into the hotel, if time allows, we can visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham. We will then walk to the top of Mount Phousi to see the sacred, gilded stupa and get a beautiful view of the city and the Mekong River at sunset. From there, we go to the Night Market, where you can look at a nice selection of hand-made goods made by the people who live in and around Luang Prabang and the hilltribes that live there. Then, we take a private boat trip upstream on the Mekong River. This gives us a great view of the peaceful countryside and a chance to visit the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, which are two caves connected by a tunnel and filled with thousands of gold-lacquered Buddha statues in different shapes and sizes that pilgrims have left behind. On the way, we stop in the town of Ban Xanghai, where rice wine, a local specialty, is made. On the way back to Luang Prabang on the same boat, the boat will stop at a village, and we'll take a short walk to Ban Chang Khong, a village known for weaving by hand and making Sa paper. After that, we'll take you back to town, where you can spend the rest of the day as you please. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

When you get to Buddha Park, take a walk around the park. This strange park is also called Xieng Khuang. It has more than 200 statues of Buddhist and Hindu gods.
