According to the readers of the international food magazine TasteAtlas, fried spring rolls are the eighth best dish in the world that features shrimp and rice.

About 340,000 foodies contributed to this list, which prioritizes distinct tastes and widespread popularity.

Cha gio is the southern Vietnamese term for fried spring rolls, while nem ran is the northern Vietnamese term.

Wrapped in rice paper and fried in hot oil, these rolls feature a mixture of ground pork and shrimp, as well as strips of taro, carrot, cassava, or wood ear.The best rolls have a thin, golden crust that is both crispy and airy.

Fish sauce, rice vermicelli, and herbs are common accompaniments.

Indonesian nasi campur, a type of mixed rice, was the world’s best shrimp and rice dish, followed by Nigiri (Japanese hand-pressed sushi) and Thailand’s pad Thai (stir-fried noodles), according to TasteAtlas.

Founded in 2015 by Croatian journalist and entrepreneur Matija Babić, TasteAtlas collaborates with 9,000 local restaurants, granting readers access to over 10,000 dishes. The platform hosts numerous reviews and insights from food experts and accomplished chefs.
